Register to become a member of our parish by calling the parish office at 251-1840, or simply stopping by during office hours. Registration can also occur after Mass on the first Sunday of the month, at the back of church.
The R.C.I.A. is the process by which men and women are helped to discern their call to faith and are incorporated into the life of the Church through various rites in preparation for the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist celebrated at the Great Easter Vigil. Those unbaptized of catechetical age are fully initiated into the life of the Church. The formation process takes place all year, beginning with a time of "inquiry" during which those interested may ask questions and discuss faith and religion very informally. In the fall of the year we begin the "catechumenate," or period of time during which a formal process of examining the Creed, the Scriptures, the teachings of the Church and more are explored and during which the Scriptures are 'opened up' in light of one's life. On the First Sunday of Lent catechumens go before Bishop Kinney. He then confirms God's "election" of them as candidates for the immediate preparation for the Easter Sacraments of Initiation. Then, during Lent, those catechumens-now-called-"Elect" enter more of a retreat atmosphere to prepare to celebrate the Sacraments. All the way through the parish will provide a 'sponsor'--someone to walk with the catechumen/elect in their faith journey. If you are interested in exploring faith and Catholic Christianity, call Mike Boyle at 251-2469.
Those who are contemplating membership in the Roman Catholic Church from another Christian denomination are welcome to participate in the formation process with those who desire baptism. The process does differ in that catechumens are coming to faith and celebration of Sacraments of Initiation while those who are previously baptized in another Christian denomination are already members of the Body of Christ. However, for full communion in the Roman Catholic Church those who are candidates prepare for the celebration of Confirmation and Eucharist in the Church. Again, call Mike Boyle at 251-2469.
