Cursillo provides us with a method for Christian living, for growing in faith, sharing our spirituality. It allows us an opportunity for evangelism and conversion. It is centered on Christ and is based on personal contact. Our purpose in Cursillo is to witness our faith through word and action, just as Christ did.
The Cursillo method is based on the motto, "Make a friend, be a friend, and bring a friend to Christ". The three-day Cursillo weekend is not merely a one-time event, as many retreats are, but rather is a short course in Christian living. It serves as an introduction to the Fourth Day --- The Cursillo Method of living our spirituality. Just as friendship develops and grows over a period of time, so, too, do the results of the Cursillo method.
Cursillo has no secrets. Yes, there are surprises, which like any present we wish to give another, would lose much of its appeal and joy if opened early. But these surprises are not the vital elements in the weekend. Talks, witnessing, praying individually and in community, and the Sacraments are significantly more effective in leading the weekend participants toward their individual conversions.
All this leads up to the third and most important step of the Cursillo Method --- Post Cursillo or the Fourth Day. The Cursillo Community draws its strength and direction from the Fourth Day activities --- Group reunions, Ultreyas and other events. For Group Reunions we meet in small groups and every Tuesday mornings at 7:50 AM at the Mary Center. For Ultreyas we meet on the first Thursday of every month at the Mary Center at 7:00 PM through June. For information contact Deacon Leo Kosiba (393-4841) or Ellen and John Palmer (252-8786). Everyone is welcome. Make a friend, be a friend and bring a friend to Christ.
